Hannah Black is a Berlin based feminist artist and author from the UK. She writes for The New Inquiry and publishes in Texte zur Kunst, Afterall and Dazed. Starting from her own experiences regarding her multidimensional family descent, she concerns herself with bodily identities between intimacy and alienation: “Operatively, my self-definition is black and that’s the one that feels most consistent with my experience.” Hannah Black is interested in social relations, geopolitics and gender identities and how they are determined by capitalist structures. She holds a MFA in Art Writing at Goldsmiths and was a studio participant on the Whitney ISP in New York (2013/14). Exhibitions, talks and performances have taken place at: Arcadia Missa, London; Interstate Projects, New York; Chateau Shatto, Los Angeles; W139, Amsterdam; the Whitechapel, London; Flutgraben, Berlin; amongst others.
