The series Stadtgespräch. Metropolitan Perspectives starts with sociologist Vassilis Tsianos introducing the concept of the metropolis as a critical figure of urban research. Under the slogan of the New Metropolitan Mainstream, global standardization processes in the field of urban development policy can be negotiated. Under the paradigm of appreciation critical positions are integrated and differences between economic and political interests are transfigured.
