Chapter 3

The project The Unrooted by Katie Lenanton, Giovanna Esposito Yussif, Jelena Fuzinato (Aalto University Helsinki) examines the history of botanical migration and border crossings in Hamburg-Altona. Through the exchange and the distribution of found or cultivated plants the historical-economic effects of plant migration in Europe will be referred to and in particular to the economic growth which results from owning the genotype of seeds. Current issues of agriculture in the EU are addressed as well as their global consequences. Visitors are invited to exchange a plant or to share their knowledge about plants and their migration histories.
