In einer bereits im Frühjahr 2014 initiierten Kooperation zwischen der HFBK Hamburg und Stadtkuratorin Hamburg haben Studierende der Klasse für Experimentelles Design (Prof. Jesko Fezer) eine Architektur entwickelt, die Treppen, Bushaltestellen, Unterführungen und andere urbane Situationen parasitär nutzbar macht und diese je nach Art der Veranstaltung — Vortrag, Ausstellung, Aktion — zu neuen Räumen erweitert, umdeutet oder ergänzt. Mittels der mobilen Elemente entstehen soziale Orte, die sich mit einem Formenvokabular von Kiosk über Infostand bis Bühne beschreiben lassen und verschiedene Nutzungen im öffentlichen Raum antizipieren. Während der Absolventenausstellung 2015 der HFBK stellen Gvantsa Jiadze, Nicole Lichtenegger, Daniel Pietschmann, Merlin Reichart und Maria Weis ihre architektonische Modulstruktur vor, die sich an der Schnittstelle zwischen Design und Kunst bewegt und derzeit an unterschiedlichen Standorten in der Stadt zu urbanen Fragen Position bezieht.

Mit COPS – Corporation of Peoples Situations

COPS treibt Real Estatics als transformative Kraft voran, schafft neue Zusammenhänge und urbane Situationen und versucht mit Strategien der Aneignung, Mimikry und Zweckentfremdung das reale und imaginäre Potential von Raum und Material zu untersuchen. Baustellen sind zeitlich begrenzte Möglichkeitsräume und Zukunftsversprechen. Sie sind omnipräsent und doch unzugänglich: abgesperrt, gesichert und durch Planen und Netze maskiert. In performativen Installationen greift COPS Bewegungs- und Handlungsmuster sowie die Phasen von Bewegung und Stillstand  auf, die vorhandene akustische, materielle und visuelle Elemente der Baustelle integrieren und deren temporären Status thematisieren.

As part of a cooperation of HFBK Hamburg and Stadtkuratorin Hamburg which was initiated in early 2014 students of the class Experimental Design (Prof. Jesko Fezer) have developed an architecture, which parasitically uses existing urban situations such as stairs, bus stops, underpasses etc., and extends, modifies or expands them into new spaces according to the type of lecture, exhibition, and action. By means of the mobile elements social spaces emerge, that can be described with a formal vocabulary of kiosk through info point to stage and that anticipate various uses in public space. During HFBK Graduate Show 2015 Gvantsa Jiadze, Nicole Lichtenegger, Daniel Pietschmann, Merlin Reichart and Maria Weis present their concept which oscillates between design and art and takes a stand on urban questions in various places across the urban space of Hamburg.

COPS promotes Real Estatics as a transformative force, creates new nexus and urban situations, and tries to investigate the real and imaginary potential of space and material with strategies of appropriation, mimicry and misappropriation. Building sites are temporary spaces of possibility and promises for the future. They are omnipresent, and yet inaccessible: closed off, secured and masked by tarpaulin and nets. In performative installations COPS captures patterns of movement and interaction, as well as phases of movement and stagnation, which integrate acoustic, material and visual elements available at the building site, and make a topic of their temporary status.
